Navy to Represent Sri Lanka in 9th Asian Water Polo Clubs Championship

The 9th Asian Water Polo Clubs Championship will be held from the 20th – 24th April in Kuwait City which will witness the top clubs in Asia vying for the title.

The Sri Lankan Navy Team qualified  as the sole club from Sri Lanka at the above tournament as they have performed exceptionally well in the local water polo arena in the past few years, and has gone on to win the Defense Services Waterpolo Tournament for the past 4 years.

Last year, Sri Lanka Navy emerged league champions after a lapse of three years, with Shehan Dassanayake being the main strike force within the Navy ranks. Led by double international Yahan Samarajeewa, the Navy team also consists of 9 players who have gone on to represent the Sri Lankan National Team. 

The last tournament was held in 2010, with Azad University Tehran emerging champions at home, as Iran have bagged the most amount of Golds in the series.
