National Water Polo teams tour Singapore

The National Men’s and Women’s team will face their first tournament in Singapore at the 3rd Asian Water Polo Championships next month.

The game water polo has gained popularity in Sri Lanka and the Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union has developed an extensive plan that will forge Sri Lanka Water Polo to greater heights and achievements. The program has been specially developed with the immediate goal of qualifying for the XVII Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea 2014.

Towards achieving the goal national water polo teams will be participating in the 3rd Asian Water Polo Cup which is organized by the Asian Swimming Federation. The tournament will be held in Singapore from the 1st-5th of October. This tournament will be the Asian region qualifiers for the FINA world water polo championship. The teams will be leaving the country on the 28th.

The men will be competing against the countries, China, Iran, Kuwait, Philippines and Singapore for the cup, while the women’s team will be up against Thailand, China, Philippines and Singapore.
