Umeshka Dilshan and Malinga Amarasinghe steered Nalanda College as they overcame Trinity College, Kandy in their Singer-Cup group A encounter which concluded today at Asgiriya stadium.
Play resumed late afternoon today due to rainy conditions, however the visitors managed to chase down the target of 143 with 8 wickets down in 40.5 overs. Experienced batsman Malinga Amarasinghe scored a match winning 46 to guide the visitors, while left-arm spinner Shanogeeth Shanmuganathan captured 4 wickets for the hosts.
Trinity College – 142 all out in 48.4 overs: Hasitha Boyagoda 35, Hasintha Jayasooriya 31, Umeshka Dilshan 5/24, Dasun Senavirathne 2/11.
Nalanda College – 144/8 in 40.5 overs: Malinga Amarasinghe 46, Shanogeeth Shanmuganathan 4/46.

Josephian right-arm leggie Dineth Jayakody and right-arm quick Ruchira Ekanayake shared 7 wickets to dismiss Bandaranayake College, Gampaha for 173 in their Singer-Cup group D encounter which started today at Darley road.
After a delayed start Josephian skipper Harin Cooray won the toss and invited the visitors to have a bat in gloomy conditions. The visitors struggled their way to a modest 173 in 62.3 overs. Arosha Madushan top scored with 26, while young wiry leg-spinner Dineth Jayakody took 4 for 34 and right-arm speedster Ruchira Ekanayake bagged 3 wickets for 42 for the home team. Sri Lankan youth fast bowler Jehan Daniel contributed with two wickets.
In reply the Josephians were 33 for 2 at stumps on day one.
