Dharmapala College vs Nalanda College

Nalanda College recorded an innings victory against Dharmapala College in the Group C fixture which concluded today at the Nalanda College Grounds. Dharmapala College resumed day two on 12 for 1, trailing by 157 runs in the second innings. The visitors struggled again in the second innings with the bat as they were bowled out for 164 runs and gave away an innings victory to the strong Nalanda outfit.

Maliyadeva College managed to record a comprehensive outright victory against Zahira College in their Group D fixture which concluded today at the Zahira College Grounds. The hosts’ batters showed some improvement with the bat in the second innings but only managed to set a target of 115 runs for the visitors to chase. The lads from Kurunegala chased down the target with 5 wickets remaining and claimed an outright victory.

Trinity College vs St. Joseph’s College

The traditional fixture between St. Joseph’s College and Trinity College ended in a draw today at Asgiriya stadium with first innings points going to Trinity College. St. Joseph’s College resumed day two on 122 for 8 and added another 43 runs for the remaining two wickets. The Trinity batters began their second innings 30 runs ahead and declared at 211 for 8, setting a target of 242 runs for visitors to chase.

Left handed stroke maker Revan Kelly gave the Joes a solid foundation to chase the target with 63 runs but they could only manage to score 131 runs for 4 wickets when umpires called stumps on day two. Young off spinner Ashen Daniel of St. Joseph’s College was the star of the match as he grabbed a match bag of 11 wickets for 110 runs.
