The failure of President Anura De Silva receiving his termination from the Associations Committee is due to him using a different email address to that in the FIFA database.

With the new administration under President Gianni Infantino, FIFA has undergone major reforms in its administrative activities.

One of the committees that have been subjected to this reformation is the FIFA Associations Committee where the FFSL President Anura De Silva was a member.

FIFA officially conveyed a message to all standing committees on the 18th of January 2017 of the termination of the membership to all the federations; however, this failed to reach Mr. Anura De Silva due to unknown reasons.

The President claimed that it was only through the local media that he learnt of his termination in the Association’s Committee on the 23rd of January 2017.

Following this unexpected turn of events, Mr. De Silva immediately responded to FIFA through a letter on the same day with an attached media report claiming that his removal has created backlash for his position since the media has criticised him for indiscipline and corruption.

ThePapare.com has now learnt that the failure of this message reaching to the President of FFSL is due to there being a different email address in FIFA’s databases to that which Mr. Anura De Silva uses currently, according to a letter sent by the FIFA Secretary General.

Furthermore, Mr Anura De Silva stated;

“People with malicious intentions may use money and other sources to damage someones integrity and reputation.”

Implying that there are certain parties who want to disrepute him since the elections are nearing.

He further reinforced his integrity stating;

“I have played football honestly from the age of 12 to 35 continuously and have represented the country as a school boy, Youth Player, Senior National Player and as the Captain of Senior National Team. I have not tried to make FFSL Player Identity Card to gain legality to be identified as a player. I can touch my heart and say that  I was a genuine player, because I played the game. I have never used a football jersey after the age 50 (FIFTY) to manipulate regulations and mislead society. Those who do that will do the same thing for football administration if elected.”
