The first ever Mercantile Futsal Tournament will be held on the 3rd & 4th of December at the Futsal World, Colombo 02.
This was announced at the Press Conference held at the Football House, Colombo 07.
The Mercantile Futsal Tournament is the brainchild of the newly appointed President of the Mercantile Football Association, Saif Yusoof.
“Sri Lanka football standards have reduced dramatically in the last few years. I think Futsal can bring that passion back where players can develop their skills. This will be the first step of taking Futsal around the country,” he added.
There will be 24 teams participating, who are divided into 8 groups of 3.
Group A – Virtusa Ltd, Akbar Brothers, Lake House
Group B – Amana Takaful – A, Sri Lanka Telecom, Galadari Hotel
Group C – Standard Chartered Bank, Commercial Bank, HNB
Group D – Airport & Aviation, Amana Takaful – B, Amana Bank
Group E – John Keells, Ceylinco Insurance, Colombo Dockyard
Group F – Citizen Development Bank, Sampath Bank, Softlogic Group
Group G – Ceylinco Business Appliances, LB Finance, Seylan Bank
Group H – ExpoLanka Freight, WNS Group, HSBC
