MAS Unichela and Commercial Credit advanced to the finals of the Singer-MCA T20 Tournament today winning their respective semi-final encounters.

Sampath Bank won the toss and inserted the high-riding MAS Unichela team to bat in the first of the two semi-finals  worked off at the MCA grounds today(28).

It was Chamara Silva who starred with the bat once again making an unbeaten 59 off just 25 balls, after his brilliant 99 in the final of the MCA knockout 50 over tournament a few days back. His half century and a useful contribution from T.M. Dilshan, lifted their score to a daunting 194/8, while leg spinner Sachitra Perera picked up three wickets for Sampath Bank.

Sampath Bank came out all guns blazing in their run chase but fell short by 19 runs on the back of some good death bowling and fielding by MAS Unichela. Chathura Peiris excelled with the ball picking up three wickets while Rumesh Buddhika(41), Dinuk Wickramanayak(37) and Hasantha Fernando(28) made useful contributions for Sampath Bank.

Dimo Vs Commercial Credit 

Dimo put up a challenging 172/7 after they won the toss and decided to bat first in the second semi-final worked off in the evening session today.

The promising up and coming batsman Hashan Dumindu impressed once again as he stroked a classy 82 which included 6 sixes and 6 fours while Nipun Karunanayake chipped in with a useful 33. Malinda Pushpakumara, Lahiru Madusanka and Ashan Priyanjana picked up 2 wickets each for the runners up from the knockout 50 over tournament.

In reply, Commercial Credit got off to a sedate start and needed 95 off the last 10 overs  before star batsmen Ashan Priyanjan(65*)  took the initiative from then on as he smashed the Dimo attack to all parts of the ground to see his team home by four wickets with two balls to spare. He got good support from Chamara Kapugedara who made a quick fire 40 runs.
