MAS ‘A’ were shocked by JKH ‘A’ in the last Cup segment game of the day as an intense day two of Mercantile Rugby Sevens drew to an end at Racecourse International stadium.

Dialog A and Access ended victorious in the only cup segment games of the Mercantile..

Day two of the 48th Mercantile Sevens kicked off at Racecourse as Aitken Spence and Dialog ‘B’ got off to winning starts.

MAS ‘B’ drew with PABC in surprising fashion as the intensity continued to rise in the tournament.

Ceylon Tea Brokers, NTB and Ceylon Knit Trend continued with wins to round off the first few shield segment games.

Dialog ‘B’ made it two out of two as PABC registered their first win on day two against Virtusa. Meanwhile NDB kicked off day two with a win, handing Softlogic their second defeat of the day to round off the first session of play on day two.

Dialog ‘A’ got their day off to a winning start handing Classic Travels their second defeat of the tournament.

Ceylon Tobacco registered their first win of the day as MAS B’s torrid time continued with their second draw of the day while Nations Trust Bank registered their second win on day two.

Meanwhile, Allianz Insurance and Mercantile Insurance managed their first win of the day as CDB and Sampath Bank kept their 100% win record intact with their second win of the day.

The action intensified as the JKH ‘A’ took to the fields for the first time, defeating Nation Lanka as the Finance outfit continued their unlucky losing streak.

Access continued to cruise through the tournament, remaining unbeaten, getting the better out of Dialog ‘A’ 38-07.

Classic Travels notched up their first victory of the tournament defeating JKH ‘B’ as the John Keells outfit’s luck continued to turn on them losing all three of their fixtures.

The shock of the day came in the final game as defending champions, MAS ‘A’ were stunned by JKH ‘A’ in the final group game of the day.

The John Keells ‘A’ outfit trailed at half time, however, came back to register a stunning win with the winner from Lavanga Perera after the final hooter.

This loss means, MAS ‘A’ will face Access in the second cup semi final while Dialog ‘A’ meets JKH ‘A’ in the first semi final.
