Charana Nanayakkara’s efforts with bat and ball guided Thurstan College to a strong position on day one against St. Joseph Vaz College in a group D encounter which began today at Thurstan grounds.

The visitors won the toss and opted to bat first as they were bundled out for 82 runs in 34.1 overs. Wiry fast-bowler Charana Nanayakkara was almost unplayable with his seam bowling as he took a 6 -for 27. In reply the Thurstanites were 223 for 6 at close of play.
