Kavika, Savindu and Sathik earn win for Navy

Galle Cricket Club Vs Burgher Recreation Club

BRC had to be satisfied with a first innings win in the Group A contest against Galle Cricket Club at the BRC ground as they couldn’t dismiss the last 4 wickets of Galle CC to register an outright win.

After opting to bat, Galle CC batsmen were bundled out for 113 runs, mainly thanks to left arm orthodox Duvindu Thilakaratne, the son of former Sri Lanka Test captain Hashan Thilakaratne as he snatched a 5-fer. In reply, BRC made 236/8 before they declared the innings and taking a first innings lead of 126.

Kevin Kottigoda who became the first uncapped Sri Lankan player to bag a deal in franchise cricket, led the batting charts for BRC with a fine fifty. Galle was 81 for 6 in the 2nd innings, still trailing 40 runs when the stumps were called by the umpires as Thilakaratne dominated again with another 3 wickets. Match was drawn with BRC earning points for first innings victory.
