U15 Cricket – Mahanama College advance to quarter-finals

Mahanama College ‘A’ Colombo advanced to the quarter final round of ‘Singer Trophy’ Under 15 division 1 inter schools cricket tournament yesterday defeating S. Thomas’ College Mt. Lavinia in the pre- quarter final match played at St. John’s College ground Panadura yesterday.

Mahanama College Colombo will meet Royal College Colombo in the quarter final at Bandaranayake MMV ground Veyangoda on Sunday the 25th of March.

After having won the toss S. Thomas’ elected to bat first on a good batting pitch on which they managed 205 runs in 47.5 overs. Ranuka Perera was the top scorer of the innings with 48 runs with G. Kanistan and Yasiru Ridrigo assisting Perera with 43 and 42 runs respectively. In the bowling department Devindu Kekirideniya was the pick of the bowlers picking up 5 wickets for 30 runs.

Mahanama chased down the target in 49.2 overs with 2 wickets in hand. The final score being 206 runs in which Pawan Rathnayake scoring a brilliant 96 runs with Vinuka Rupasinghe chipping in with 25 runs. Aneesh Kamalachandra, Randey Gunasekara and Anuk Palihawadana each picked up 2 wickets each.
