Prince of Wales dominated the initial ten minutes of the game against a confused Thomian team. However, once the Thomians got both feet on the ground, there was no stopping them. Skipper Naveen Henakankanamage, the star from S.Thomas’ in the 2016 season was the first to do the honours for the Thomians as he scored through a pass taken off a quick tap. Dion Dias had an unsuccessful boot to start off the season with. (STC – 05 : POW – 00)

Minutes later, Henakankanamge was over the line again as he received a good pass off the hands of Lushantha Dabare. Dias was unable to add the extra couple of points through the conversion. (STC – 10 : POW – 00)

S.Thomas’ continued their attack but lacked the finishing touch and were unable to score, even though many opportunities were thrown their way. S.Thomas’ College finally got their third try through good hands, and Adisa Handunpathirana was over the line. Dias was successful with the boot, this time over. (STC – 17 : POW – 00)

As a result of some brilliant passing from the Thomian players, their forwards bulldozed their way over the line and right under the posts.   Dias made no mistake with the conversion. (STC – 24 : POW – 00)

Next up, Chanuka Manoratne and Hans Walpola of S.Thomas’ side-stepped their way over the line scoring the last couple of tries in the first half of the game. Dias was on point with the kick, and S.Thomas’ were up on the deal at the breather, leading 38 points to nil.

Prince of Wales, yet again took up to a promising start into the second half of the game as the Thomians took time to settle in, once again. The Cambrians were however unsuccessful in converting pressure into points.

Before long, S.Thomas’ was over the white line once again through Lushantha Dabare. Hans Walpola did the needful with the conversion. (STC – 45 : POW – 00)

Prince of Wales College were unsuccessful in their first opportunity to get some points on the board as they missed a chance to get the ball through the uprights for 3 points.

Things weren’t going the way the lads from Moratuwa wanted, as some good work in defence ended up with Supun Honnanthara being sent to the sin-bin as a result of a dangerous tackle.

Christian De Lile of S.Thomas’ was over the line through a rolling maul as they went on adding more points onto the score board. (STC – 50 : POW – 00)

Lushantha Dabare, the Thomian winger was on his A-game with some brilliant passing and off-loading and put the cherry on the cake for S.Thomas’, scoring his second and the last try of the game. (STC – 57 : POW – 00)

S.Thomas’ College finished the game scoring a total 9 tries, 6 of which were converted, thus recording their first win of the season.
