Three matches of the Singer Schools ‘Under 19 Division I’ Cricket Tournament 2018/19 were conducted today around the island.

Richmond College, Galle vs Thurstan College, Colombo

Group D fixture between Richmond College and Thurstan College ended in a draw today at MRICS in Sooriyawewa, but the first innings points were won by Richmond College. Strong outfit Richmond College resumed day two on 185 runs for 3 wickets and declared their innings at 270 runs for 4 wickets. Dimuth Sandaruwan stroked an unbeaten century for the Richmondites.

In reply, Thurstan College batsmen showed a poor batting display as they were bowled out for just 89 runs. Left arm spinner Dilum Sudheera picked up 5 wickets for 12 runs for the lads from Galle. After been asked to follow on, Thurstan College ended day two on 65 runs for 4 wickets.

St. Sebastian’s College, Moratuwa vs Nalanda College, Colombo

Traditional fixture between Nalanda College and St. Sebastian’s College ended today in a draw but the first innings points were won by Nalanda College as they went pass the score put on by St. Sebastian’s College. Nalanda College resumed day two on 29 runs for no wicket and posted a massive total of 411 runs for 7 wickets at stumps on day two. Lakshitha Rasanjana stroked a magnificent century for Nalanda College.

St. Benedict’s College, Colombo vs Zahira College, Colombo

Traditional fixture between St. Benedict’s College and Zahira College concluded today at St. Benedict’s College ground in Kotahena. The match was ended in a draw but the first innings points were won by the hosts. St. Benedict’s College resumed day two on 213 runs for 5 wickets and declared their innings at 264 runs for 8 wickets.

Kaveesha Jayathilaka (84) and Maheesh Theekshana (64) top scored for Bens. In reply, Zahira College posted only 107 runs all-out for their first innings. Off spinner Maheesh Theekshana was the pick of the bowlers for Bens as he grabbed 4 scalps for 31 runs. After been asked to follow on, Zahira College was 46 runs for 5 wickets when umpires called stumps on day two.
