Saman Kumara and Geethani Rajasekara emerged men and women’s champions at the Lanka Lions Road Race held yesterday between Mount Lavinia and Vihara Maha Devi Park.
This is Saman Kumara’s first win in an all island event this season while Rajasekara who is fresh after her win in a cross country race emerged in front.
Cross country men’s winner Lionel Samarajeewa finished second in the race while Upul Vijitha Kumara finished third.
In the women’s race Chathurika Hemamali finished second while Dammika Malkanthi finished third.
This was the eighth Lanka Lions road race and second in collaboration with Sirasa TV. Men’s race was over 15 km and was run five rounds around Vihara Maha Devi Park before the conclusion. The women’s race was two rounds around the park after starting from Mt. Lavinia early morning.
