Sri Lanka U19 representative Kamindu Mendis cracked a superb 166 as Richmond College got through to the quarter-finals in the under 19 division one ‘Singer Cup’ tournament 2015/16 beating the second-string St. Joseph’s College outfit on Saturday at Darley Road.

After being 80 for 7, Mendis together with the tail posted 290 on the board in reply to the Josephian score of 181. The home team made 108 for 3 in their second essay. Mendis scored 166 runs in 221 balls with 15 boundaries and 5 sixes. Left-arm spinner Havin Perera captured 4 wickets for the Josephians.

St. Joseph’s – 181 all out in 64.2 overs: Pahan Perera 62, Dario Dasanayake 35, Lakshan Gamage 24 n.o., Wanidu Hasaranga 4/39, Avindu Theekshana 3/38.

St. Sebastian’s College vs Ananda College

St. Sebastian’s College got through to the quarter-finals by virtue of extra points scored by their batsmen against Ananda College in their drawn pre-quarter final game which concluded on Saturday at DS Senanayake College grounds.

Sri Lanka U19 batsman, Avishka Fernando of St. Sebastian’s Moratuwa scored 130 runs in 154 balls with 13 boundaries and 5 sixes. Avishka (130) and Praveen Perera (96) constructed a 212-run stand for the 2nd wicket. For the Anandians, Nisal Fransisco and Sammu Ashan reached half-centuries.
