All Island Tennis Championship 2018

The All Island Tennis Championship 2018 kicks off with the junior girls taking the court for the ultimate Schools’ Tennis titles. The games are currently underway at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association with the under 13 and 15 Girls events starting this year’s proceedings.

2017 crowned Visakha Vidyala and Ladies College in the under 13 and 15 age groups respectively. Both teams have returned to this year’s games as top ranks in the tournament. Each age group will play in two groups on a round-robin basis and will move on to the knockout rounds upon securing the top two spots in their group.

Under 13 Girls

Top seeds Visakha Vidyala were grouped in Pool A along with Musaeus College and Ladies’ College. Toppling the girls from Flower road, Visakha and Musaeus have entered the semifinal and will play the top two teams from Pool B.

Pool B was dominated by Bishop’s College and Ave Maria Convent, beating out St. Bridget’s Convent to secure entry to the knockouts.

The first semifinal will feature, leaders of the clan, Visakha Vidyalaya and 2017 runners up Bishop’s College. Musaeus College will take on Ave Maria Convent in the other semi to fight for entry into the finals.

Under 15 Girls

Ladies’ College, Musaeus College and Holy Family Convent fought in group A of the Under 15 draw while Visakha Vidyalaya, Karandeniya Central, Bishop’s College and Methodist College played three ties each in Pool B.

Holy Family Convent along with Ladies’ College entered the knockout stage from Pool A while Bishop’s College and Visakha Vidyalaya pulled through from Pool B.

The first semifinal will feature Holy Family Convent and Bishop’s College while Ladies’ and Visakha fight it out for the other spot in this year’s final.
