Undoubtedly the best kicker Sri Lanka rugby has ever seen, Nalaka Weerakkodi has taken over as the head of Junior rugby at St. Joseph’s College.
He enjoyed a successful stint as kicking coach for the first team of St. Joseph’s College before going on to coach Kandy to their triple crown and the double in 2016/ 17.
Weerakkodi, another product from Randle Hills, is a double National colors man having represented the Under 19 Football and Rugby National teams. He was the vice-captain of the Football outfit in 1994 on their tour to Indonesia.
He made a seamless switch from playing to coaching and since has gone on to win accolades at every school and club he coached at.
He was at St. Anthony’s in 2017 before making the switch to the Darley road side and they will be expecting much out of the experienced coach.
