At the end of this week Royal, Nalanda, Holy Cross & Dharmaloka managed to secure victories at the Singer Schools U17 Division 1 cricket tournament.

Royal College Colombo vs Mahanama College Panadura

It was an easy win for Royal against Mahanama with a margin of 178 runs at their home grounds. Winning the toss, Royal selecting to bat first, scored a huge total of 254 runs in a 45 over match. Leading the score card for Royal Isiwara Dissanayake scored 121 runs not out. Mahanama managed to take only 4 wickets at the end of the inning. While chasing, Mahanama failed to reach the target and was bowled out for 76 runs in 24.2 overs.

It was a nail biting finish at Kaluthara Holy Cross grounds, as the home team Holy Cross beat the visitors Carey College by one wicket, in the last over of a 40 over match. Carey College Colombo winning the toss and choosing to bat first could only score 211 runs all out in 34 overs. Carey batting lineup was destroyed by Matheesha Shamal who took 6 wickets for just 08 runs. Chasing down the target, the match came up to the last over with Holy Cross passing the margin and scoring 215 in the 39th over with one wicket in hand. All round performance by Dimesh Samual of Carey College scoring 79 with the bat and taking 4 wickets for 44 runs was over shadowed as he was unlucky to be on the losing side of the day.

The Kelaniya boys won comprehensively against the Welikada boys by 5 wickets, while chasing a target of 125 runs in a 32 over match. Dharmaloka won the toss and invited the visitors Wesley College to bat first. Wesley managed to score 124 runs all out in 30 overs. Imesh Dalumdara led the bowling attack for Dharmaloka by taking 4 wickets for 33 runs. While chasing the target, Dharmaloka finished the match in the 25th over scoring 126 runs, giving away only 5 wickets to Wesley.
