The most looked forward to and competitive event in the calendar of the International Schools is about to unfold at the Sugathadasa Stadium from the 1-3rd March 2013. ISAC 2013, the International Schools Athletics Championship that is on its 13th year, is organised by Gateway College whose brain-child this event was.
This time around big plans have been laid out to take the event to greater heights with a great many sponsors lending shoulder to make this a success. Sponsors MAS Active, Ritzbury, Edexcel, Gateway Graduate School, John Keells Holdings, Nawaloka Hospitals, Kotmale Holding, Dine-More, Cool Planet, Mount Spring Water and Tex Colours form a formidable force for the mega event.
ISAC is expecting participation form 23 schools featureing over 3000 athletes. 130 events are lined up, While all regular events of athletic nature will be incorporated the 4 x 100 girls and boys and the 4 x 200 will take pride of place
This event generally draws a massive audience of very vocal participants with international flavor added on. Sri Lanka Athletic Association standards will be adhered to with digital timing, online entries and all other international standards in place.
So far in the short history of the event the tally stands at Gateway College six championships, Lyceum Wattala won it five times and last year as well. while Colombo International School who has won it once will be fighting hard to make an impact.
