
One of the most popular events in the schools sporting arena: The Inter School Swimming and Diving Championships, will get underway at the waters of Ananda College swimming pool, tomorrow (23).
The four-day event (23 – 26 June), is being organized for the 38th consecutive time by Sri Lanka schools Aquatic Association with the patronage of Nestle Lanka PLC, the distributor of 'MILO'.
In a press conference held last Thursday (16), it was revealed that more than 1800 swimmers from Western, Central, North Western, Southern and North Central provinces would participate in this year's competition, representing government, private and international schools.
The event would host 140 individual events with the participation of 1012 boys and 802 girls, who would be competing in six age categories: Under-9, 11, 13, 15, 17 and 19.
The organizers have also paved the way for 164 team events, where over 340 teams will take part in group relays in this year's competition.
Last year’s event saw St. Joseph College emerging as Champions in the Boys category while the aggressive Mahamaya girls from the hill capital, grabbing the championship in the Girls category.
