Moratuwa fails to retain title

The American College of higher education (ACHE) ended the host team’s winning streak by beating the Moratuwa university ‘A’ side today at the ‘Mora 7’s’ tournament played at the Moratuwa university grounds.

The defending champions Moratuwa University having won the past four years could not defend their title against a more skilled set of players from ACHE. Both teams were unbeaten to the lead up to the final and it was always going to be a close match on the cards. ACHE scored first through a goal in the early stages of the game to set the tone for the visitors. They increased the lead with two more goals in the final before Moratuwa clawed their way back in to the game with a goal of their own. ACHE then secured victory with another goal to seal the deal for the visitors.
