Sports physiotherapy exhibition a roaring success

 

The inaugural Physiotherapy work shop and exhibition was carried off on the 23rd January (Monday) at the Sri Buddha Jayanthi Mandiraya in Colombo and is said to have been a roaring success.

Among the distinguished guest who graced the occasion were Maithreepala Sirisena, Hon. Minister of Health (Chief guest), Prof. Arjuna De Silva Director General Sports Ministry, Bandula Gunawardana, Hon. Minister of Education, Mahindananda Aluthgamage, Hon. Minister of Sports and others.

The Chief Guest of the evening Maithreepala Sirisena, Hon. Minister of Health opened proceeding at the work shop which was followed by the launch of the  GPA’s Web Site by Min. of Health, Assisted by Mr. Buddhika Jayasanka.

“Physiotherapist Sri Lanka”, Sri Lanka’s first sports physiotherapy magazine was launched on Monday while the chairperson of the organizing committee Bhanaka Fernando conducted a speech regarding “Rehabilitation after Sports Injuries”.

It was a fruitful exhibition which focused on sports rehabilitation and many experts delivered views regarding the topic. Mr. Ujitha Bandara spoke on “On field Management of the Acute Sports Injuries” while Mr. Priyantha Wikramasingha extended his knowledge on “Prevention of Sports Injuries”.

Injuries have been a worrying concern throughout the sporting world in Sri Lanka and we at ThePapare applaud the organizing committee in communicating it to the future generation of sports personnel in Sri Lanka.
