A relatively young Sri Lanka netball team left the island recently to take part in a series of matches in Singapore.

The FairPrice Foundation Nations Cup 2011 organised by Netball Singapore is being held from 5-11th December at the Toa Payoh Sports Hall, Singapore. The team took wing to gain experience ahead of the Asian Championship. They were able to win their final match after a series of 6 matches against a much tougher competition.

5th December 2011 - Singapore v Sri Lanka –

Singapore won 73- 36

Q1: 20 - 8,  Q2: 34 – 17  Q3: 54 - 28, Q4: 73 - 36

6th December 2011 - Sri Lanka v Fiji
The superior Fijians thrashed the young Sri Lankan side 81 -24
Q1: 7 - 20,  Q2: 14 -41,  Q3: 19 - 63,  Q4: 24 - 81

7th December 2011 - Malaysia v Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka put up a good fight against Malaysia but succumbed 69-44
Q1: 17 - 13, Q2: 33 - 25, Q3: 51 - 36, Q4: 69 - 44

8th December 2011 – Sri Lanka vs Namibia

Namibia beat Sri Lanka 77-49
Q1: 12 – 22, Q2: 24 -45, Q3: 38 – 63, Q4: 49 - 77

10th December 2011 – Sri Lanka vs Papua New Guinea
Papua New Guinea held Sri Lanka to a close margin
Q1: 17 – 16, Q2: 37 – 33, Q3: 59 – 51, Q4: 80 - 70

11th December 2011 – Sri Lanka vs Papua New Guinea
Sri Lanka received first win of the tour
