World’s renowned thriller biker boys: The Red Bull X-Fighters made yet another awe-inspiring performance in the Galle Face Green, Colombo yesterday (30).
The Fearless Four were back in Colombo, following their first Jam in the country in November 2010, with the promise of being a spectacle like never experienced before, in this island paradise.
Jimmy Verburgh, who rode his machine at last year’s November Jam with his scintillating pack of stunts, didn’t show up at yesterday’s performance due to an injury. Jimmy was replaced by Bjorn van den Broeck from Belgium.
Daniel Bodin of Sweden, Gilles de Jong of Belgium, Nick de Wit (sick Nick) from South Africa, Bjorn van den Broeck of Belgium were the four performers at yesterday’s event, which had attracted over 200,000 local and foreign spectators.
The event kicked off following a musical performance, blending both Eastern and Western Sri Lankan music, traditional Kandian and Western dance performances.
“It was amazing. I got no words to explain. I missed all this entertainment last year, but I managed to make it today”, a thrilled fan who had arrived all the way from Negombo, made his remarks with ThePapare.com.
“This is my second time. They could have shifted this to a different location. To somewhere like Sugathadasa Stadium where many people can view with less trouble”, one remarked after seeing the packed crowds.
At yesterday’s event, the organizers had charged a fee with a view to minimize the congestion that occurred last year where they faced many tough situations in crowd control.
The team of X-Fighters had also conducted a workshop in Colombo, for the Armed Forces and Police to enhance their skills on the two wheelers.

The second edition of Red Bull X-Fighters Jams in Sri Lanka was organized under the patronage of Red Bull.
Red Bull X-Fighters is the biggest FMX series in the world, taking the 2011 Tour to Dubai, Brazil, Italy, Spain, Poland and Australia. Freestyle motocross events are judged by a team of experts, with points awarded to the riders according to the degree of difficulty and execution of the tricks performed in the air.
X-Fighters have been showing off their world class FMX action since 2001, which has been thrilling hundreds of thousands FMX enthusiasts around the globe.
