Mighty Mini Annual Excursion on May 28

Sri Lanka’s Mighty Mini club would be hosting yet another edition of its Annual Excursions, where the club members would be driving their mini-machines through the hills of the paradise island towards Nuwara Eliya.

Speaking to ThePapare.com, the treasurer of Sri Lanka’s Mighty Mini Club, Malinda Sirisena noted that this year’s event, which is also a ‘family trip’ for the members of the Club, would commence its journey at 5.30 hours (local time) in front of the BRC Grounds premises in Havelock Road, on the 28th Saturday. The club members would be returning to Colombo on the 29th Sunday.

"The two-day drive would carry 18 to 20 cars this year", Sirisena said. The number has been reduced compared to previous years, mainly due to the availability of low number of rooms at the rest house, the members have planned to stay in.

The 2010 edition of the Mighty Mini Excursion was made to Bandarawela, with the participation of 40 minis, on the March 6 and 7.

The Mighty Mini Club of Sri Lanka, which was formed on July 7, 1995, currently holds over 250 members.

A group of Mini enthusiasts formed the Mighty Mini Club of Sri Lanka so as to enable Mini lovers to meet socially and make the most of their Minis. The name for the Club was suggested by Ameen Deane while the late Mr. Elsworth Forbes was the Founder President of the Club. The other Founder Office Bearers were - Vice President Naomal Keertisinghe, Secretary Deshan de Silva and Treasurer Hafiz Cader.

The Club encourages Mini owners to join, irrespective of where in Sri Lanka they live.
