Matale Hockey association and Sri Lanka schools impress on day one

The National Junior Hockey Tournament began today at the Asgiriya Stadium in Kandy and the Matale hockey association and the Sri Lanka schools association (Gold) stood out during the first round games.

The Matale hockey association beat Kalutara Hockey association 11 goals to 1 while the Sri Lanka schools Gold team beat Kegalle hockey association 11 goals to nil to record the highest scores during day one.

Another team which impressed was the Defense hockey association team which beat the Kalutara hockey association 10 goals to 2. The tournament which began today will see the final rounds being battled out tomorrow and the day after.

Game 1 - Colombo Hockey Association Beat Sri Lanka Schools (Maroons) 05-00 at the lemons scores were 03-00

Game 2 - Mercantile Hockey Association Beat Kandy Hockey Association 04-03 at the lemons scores were 03-00

Game 3 - Matale Hockey Association Beat Kaluthara Hockey Association 11-01 at the lemons scores were 05-00

Game 4 – Sri Lanka Schools (Gold) Beat Kegalle Hockey Association 11-00 at the lemons scores were 06-00

Game 5 – Sri Lanka Schools (Maroons) Beat Uva Hockey Association 04-01 at the lemons scores were 01-00

Game 6 - Mercantile Hockey Association vs. Wennappuwa Hockey Association 01-01 at the lemons scores were 01-00

Game 7 - Defense Hockey Association Beat Kaluthara Hockey Association 10-02 at the lemons scores were 07-02

Game 8 - Gampaha Hockey Association Beat Kegalle Hockey Association 02-01 at the lemons scores were 02-01
