The Bundesliga Transfer Activity

The 2010/2011 season of the German league ended with Borussia Dortmund grabbing the shield in quite the hair-raising manner, especially being the youngest-ever  team to win the title. They were followed by clubs Bayer Leverkusen and, quite disappointingly, Bayern Munich.
The German league having quite a young and vibrant roster showing much promise, as their very own National team showed at the 2010 FIFA Worldcup, has sparked up much interest from major clubs around the world. The following section will provide you with the current transfer window activity of the major clubs in the Bundesliga.

Note: The rumours mentioned in this article are nothing but just rumours, so the outcome at the closure of the transfer window could even be entirely of the opposite, as players and clubs can make last minute decisions, therefore there is no certainty as to how far the rumour is valid.

BAYER LEVERKUSEN

Signings:

The title runners-up are ready to spend up to keep up their league position and challenge the upcoming Champions League.

They have managed to win the race to sign Mainz’s 20 year-old German International, Andre Schurrle, who has shown much promise in the past 2010/2011 season. They have also signed Bastian Oczipka, from FC St. Pauli, and Omer Toprak from SC Frieburg.

BAYERN MUNICH

Signings:

Die Roten are planning on spending big money this transfer season as it’s been said that they have 200million euros to spend in the transfer market after several years of making massive profits and are willing to spend as much as possible to regain their throne in the Bundesliga, having dropped down to 3rd place.

They’ve managed to sign up 2010 FIFA World Cup Bronze medalist and Germany’s No.1, Manuel Neuer for 18 million euros, beating even clubs such as Manchester United, to get the much demanding goalkeeper.

They have also signed the 25 year-old Brazilian right-back, Rafinha from Genoa CFC, having failed to sign Fabio Coentrao from Benfica. And also, they managed to get Striker, Nils Peterson from Energie Cottbus to their team.

One very interesting signing by Bayern is the bringing in of the 19 year-old Japanese forward, Takashi Usami, on loan from the J-league. They have brought in this ‘emerging talent’ to use as an alternative for the ‘Robbery’ factor. As the previous season showed how injury problems led to only rare, but tremendous, appearances of both Ribbery and Robben appearing together at games, thereby leaving Bayern with the trouble of having to find a replacement for the two veterans during these injury spells.

Bids and Rumours:

Bayern have joined the likes of United, City and Chelsea in the race for the Gunner, Samir Nasri. They wish to acquire the Gunner as a long-term replacement for Ribbery, as he is nearing the end of his contract with the Bavarians. Also there’s a rumour going about that the Bavarian giants are planning on making a $49 million bid for the French Midfielder.

Having made a bid for the Manchester City defender Jerome Boateng, and thus seeing no outcome so far, Bayern are willing to seek out alternative options to fortify their central defense. Also the Bavarians seems to have shown quite the interest in their rival club, Bayer Leverkusen’s midfielder Arturo Vidal, who, if he joins Bayern, could go onto be the most ideal partner for the German midfield maestro Bastien Schweinsteiger.

Theirs is also a rumour about that Bayern are eyeing the winger Nani who plays for United, where with the new presence of Young into United could mean less minutes out in the field for Nani.

Exits:

The 2006 FIFA World Cup Golden Boot Winner and the 2nd highest all-time FIFA World Cup goal scorer, Miroslav Klose having finished his contract with the Bavarians, Bayern Munich, will be saying goodbye to the Bundesliga this summer as he says hello to the Italian League, Serie A, where he will be joining S.S. Lazio. The German veteran left mainly due to too little playtime at Bayern Munich, which he will be sufficed for in the Seria A team. “I welcome this move”, says the German National coach, Joachim Lowe, about this transfer.

He is not the only player whose reason for departure from the club is too little playtime, as Hamit Altintop, the 2010 Puskas Award winner, shall also be leaving the Bavarians for the Spanish giants, Real Madrid.

WERDER BREMEN

Exits:

Another long-time German veteran who shall be departing the Bundesliga is Torsten Frings. The former German International and Werder Bremen captain will join the MLS to play for the Canadian side, Toronto FC.

BORUSSIA DORTMUND

Signing:

The current Bundesliga Champions have started off the transfer season by signing in the Croatian midfielder Ivan Perisic from Club Brugge for 2.5 million Euros.

Rumours:

The agent and father of the Gunner, Nicklas Bendtner, has claimed that Borussia Dortmund has shown interest in buying the Gunner, although he’s stated that no official negotiations have been made between the two parties.

Also there seems to be a rumour out and about that the talented young playmaker, Mario Goetze, has attracted interests from major clubs in Europe including that of Manchester United and Arsenal.

Exits:
The promising Turkish midfielder, Nuri Sahin will also be leaving the Bundesliga to join La Liga to play for the Spanish giants, Real Madrid.
