Lions triumph over Thomians

The 2'nd football encounter between TCK & STC was held at the Pallakele stadium yesterday 28th October which started at 4.30pm under rain and slippery conditions. It was a close battle on the cards with two great schools linning up for the challenge.TCK was captained by M.Izaideen and STC captained by Jerom Rasaiya.

In the first half TCK was the side who dominated in attack but every time they looked good, the Thomians denied them any form of scoring through defence. It was a quiet first half but it spiced up with some yellow card incidents and a large number of free kicks by both sides.

Trinity was the side who created chances but again and was denied by the Thomian defense which was right on the money through out the first half.

The first goal came in early in the second half The Trinity defense was penalized and referee awarded a free kick. Prabodhan Joseph stepped up to take it and placed it on the top right corner.  Thomians playing with their tails up after the goal found another scoring opportunity with an intercepted pass which set up Probodhan to score but was well defended by the TCK right back.

TCK got back on track with an equlizer in the 50th minute from a spot kick which was scored from the rebound off the man who was step up to take the spot kick. M. Firud scored the goal in the 2nd attempt and in the 52nd minute.   Loshinan Shilo found the back of the net while TCK defence exposed their goal keeper. In the 55'th minute TCK found space and had luck to level things up when a TCK player shot was deflected by a Thomian leg and took the keeper who never excepted it to fly to him and it was a OWN GOAL.

In the 57'th minute TCK  M.Fairud clinically placed a shot at goal from a perfect pass from his mid-fielder right on his right foot. With his goal TCK won 03-02.and won the champion trophy for the first time.
