Sonny Bill Williams wins Boxing title

Months after being a part of the World cup winning All Blacks side sonny Bill Williams is now the New Zeland Heavy Weight boxing champion after defeating New Zealand-based American fighter Clarence Tillman III .

The bout took place on Wednesday the 8th of February and Tillman was considered as the first real ring test for Sonny Bill who scored easy wins in the lead up to the fight. Sonny Bill claimed the title by technical knockout in the first round in a bout held on Wednesday the 8th of February. He now holds the title that was vacated by Shane Cameron.

This comes as no surprise to those who have been following Sonny’s career as he split focus from the rugby field to fight nights after the 2011 world cup. Sonny however, will be back playing rugby once the season resumes with the Super 15 competition looming. A clause in his All Black rugby contract permits him to take part in boxing bouts.

Sonny Bill is now unbeaten in five professional boxing fights.
