The Carlton marathon races 2012 kicks off

Carlton Sports Club the sports wing of “Tharunyata Hetak” held its l “Carlton Marathon 2012" press conference at the Sports Ministry Auditorium in Colombo. The event started at 2.30 and had a successful media discussion for duration of 2 hours.

Carlton Sports Club the sports wing of "Tharunyata Hetak" is proud to present the Carlton Marathon 2012 a series of 09 marathon race events which will be held in all nine provinces which would cover the whole Island. The races are scheduled to be held from the 03rd of March 2012 - 28th of April 2012 in the Northern, North Central, Central, Western, Sabaragamuwa, Eastern, Uva, Southern and in the North Western Provinces during the above mentioned dates. The Carlton Marathon races would be a great opportunity to all athletes in the country where they are provided a series of marathon races for them to participate. The Carlton Super Sevens Rugby teams will also participate in their respective province races in order to create a hype. The Carlton Marathon will be the first of its kind as a series of marathon events will be held across the country in order to facilitate all the athletes around the island from south to north, east to west.

The Carlton Marathon races 2012 will be held in the following districts on the stated dates and all who wish to participate are invited to attend the respected event venues before 06.00 am on the venues stated.

The Carlton Marathon 2012 offers the athletes great exposure as well as great prizes the following would be awarded to the winners of each race.

1st place Rs.100,000

02nd place Rs. 50,000

03rd place Rs. 25,000

04th place Rs. 20,000

05th place Rs. 15,000

06th place Rs. 12,500

07th place Rs. 10,000

08th place Rs. 7,500

09th place Rs. 5,000

10th place Rs. 2,500
