It was a bit of harsh call by the referee D Nimal on the Army center Alu Alu to send him to the sin bin just before half time yet the soldiers defended very well with 14men in the team to keep the Havies on 5points.
It was all Havelocks after the lemons. There were some cardinal errors but the referee let the both sides play advantage as Havies lock Asela Dissanayake sprints through the army diffence to score the second try which was converted by the former national player Amjad Buksh. Sooner after the second try Army hooker Asoka Jayalal was sin- binned for tackling not being 10m on the quick penalty cleverly taken by Buksh.
Young Tongan centre Paula, steps through the army defence and passes long to Chandana Vithanage who scored the third try in the corner, once again the conversion was missed by Buksh. As the Havelocks score increased army showed lack of interest to defend, a missed tackle by Kapila Knowton led Angsta to score under the post and to move the score board for a comfortable margin. This time Bucks cleared it easy under the post.
Despite poor defence in the second half, soldiers came strong in attacking the Havies territory Ethika moala the Army no 8 breaks in the scrum runs 40m but he couldn’t control the ball as he passed forward to Saliya, 10 minutes to go to the final whistle Soldiers sent two chances a begging as they knocked on 5 metres away from the try line and an obstruction on taking a quick penalty just 10M away from the scoring line.
