In a ‘Super’ first day of the Carlton Super Sevens 2011, the crowds gathered at the Bogambara Stadium witnessed some skillful rugby played by all teams with noteworthy performances by The Central Kings who won all the matches they played so far. The team led by National player and former Kandy SC captain Fazil Marja closely backed up by a good line up of both local and foreign players managed to score the highest points for the day when they beat Uva Vipers with a score of 45-26.

At the end of the first day the Central Kings are leading Group A while the Southern Sharks team led by Havelocks SC player Amjad Buksh is the only other team who are yet to lose a match in this tournament.

• Sabaragamuwa Stallions beat Western Warriors. (35-7)

• Central Kings beat Eastern Eagles. (36-7)

• North Central Typhoons and Northern Gladiators drawn (21-21)

• Jaffna Challengers beat North Western Blacks (22-12)

• Eastern Eagles beat Western Warriors (20-12)

• Southern Sharks beat Northern Gladiators (31-7)

• North Central Typhoons beat Jaffna Challengers (36-12)

• Eastern Eagles beat Sabaragamuwa Stallions  (22-14)

• Southern Sharks beat North Western Blacks (21-14)

• Northern Gladiators beat Jaffna Challengers (24-14)

• Central Kings beat Western Warriors (26-7)

The Carlton Super Sevens tournament will be played in two phases – the first phase which is currently being worked off in Kandy at Bogambara and the next in Colombo at the Royal Sports complex which is scheduled for the 5th and 6th of November 2011.
