The regatta is set to be thrilling encounter with both teams coming into the regatta on a level playing field but it can be said that the royalists hold an edge due to the depth in their squad. But the Thomians will be coming all guns blazing to regain the TN Fernando Trophy from their arch enemies.
The Royalists under the captaincy of Radika Weerasekara won the 2010 regatta by 34 points to 18 while the Thomians last won the regatta under the captaincy of Dhanushka Jayanetti in 2009(40-12).
Mini Battle
The Royalists achieved a whitewash at last week’s mini battle regatta where the juniors won all 8 events offering points and 3 more under 14 events (no points) to setup a convincing 52-nil victory to annex the Asia Digest Trophy.

The Boat Race, which is the pinnacle of a Royalist’s or Thomian’s rowing career is blue ribbon event of the evening and will see the best of these two institutions battling it out for supremacy and the famed “Crossed Oars Trophy”.
