Peterites crumble again due to Rajaguru’s and SACK’s impressive performance

SPC resumed their innings on 103 runs for the loss of 4 wickets 133 runs behind the total posted by SACK. SPC looking to do well on day 2 simply didn’t seem to turn up as SACK were able to bowl the Peterites out for a low score.

The Peterites in the second week running have collapsed with the bat with only Shehan Fernando and Janith Liyanage scoring 27 and 28 respectively. However the single figure of Lahiru Milantha who scored a fighting 52 not out was the only joy from a Peterite point of view. They were dismissed for meekly 175 runs in their first innings. For SACK T Rajaguru picked up 4 for 48 and he was provided with good support by Sachin Bulathsinhala and Nimesh Gurusinghe who picked 3 for 32 and 2 for 8 respectively.

SACK in their second innings looked for quick runs and once again turned to inform batsman T Rajaguru. Rajaguru Scored a quick fire 51 runs with plenty of hits to the rope. However for SACK in their second innings it was Manoj Sarachchandra who top scored with 61 valuable runs in quick time. SACK declared on 168 for the loss of 8 wickets. The wickets were picked up by Julien De Zilva (3/46) and Shehan Fernando (2/27).

The Peterites needed to score 234 runs in almost 30 odd overs. It was an uphill task no doubt, However after Janith Liyanage scored 25 and Sasheen Fernando scored 42 runs to get them closer to the total but Romesh Maxime picked up 2 wickets which halted the Peterite progress. Kavinda De sayrah remained on 32 not out.

SPC for the second match running have crumbled and as the pressure of the big match beckons new measures will have to be taken. For SACK after playing the saints in their previous matches they will be quite happy as they have played extremely well to the buildup to the big game.  T Rajaguru has been exceptional this season with bat and ball and will have certainly raised the eye brows of the SL youth selectors. Rajaguru looks very confident and seems to have the quality and skills needed to be a top all-rounder.
