The Peterites after been stunned by the Mahanamians made the long trip up to Kandy to face St.Anthony’s College. The Peterites were disappointing in their last match and were looking to make amends. SACK played the Josephain’s in their last encounter and showed good signs of form.
After the toss was decided SACK was first to bat. The lads from Kandy were patient in the first session or so and then gradually accumulated runs. For SACK Sachin Bulathsinhala scored a half century for his side and was the top scorer for the side. Sachin was very good with bat in hand and his timing seemed to be impeccable. Nimesh Gurusinghe, T Rajaguru and Yohan Woods also chipped in with 34, 32 and 24 runs respectively. For SPC Julien De Zilva had figures of 4 for 48 whilst V Fernando and D Hemantha picked up a couple of wickets each. SPC were able to dismiss SACK for 241 runs in 66.2 overs in their first innings.
In reply SPC at the end of play were on 103 for the loss of 4 wickets. For SPC Skipper Shehan Fernando and Janith Liyanage scored 27 and 28 runs respectively. T Rajaguru picked up 3 wickets and gave away 24 runs. T Rajaguru was impressive with the ball for SACK as he lead from the front.
SPC similar to last week have to chase down a target which is achievable and this time without fault will look to chase it down. For SACK piling on the pressure and exposing the lower order will be a key and may bring about a first innings victory. All in all tomorrow will be an interesting day of cricket in Kandy.
