Lions push hard for win against Zahira

Trinity College hosted Zahira College after nearly two decades today at the Asgiriya Stadium. Lions winning the toss put the visitors in to bat first on a wicket which aided the home bowling attack.

Zahira coming off a win in their last match against Lumbini were not at the top of their game and were all out for 140 runs in 41.4 over’s. Mahir Mohomed was the pick of the batsmen for the Zahira team scoring 42 runs while Basith Marikkar chipped in with 24 runs.

For the home team it was their dependable medium pacer Alwin Fernando who came good with a 5 wicket haul for 43 runs in 11.5 over’s. Lakshan Jayasinghe continued his feats with the ball from the last match against the Thomians capturing 3 wickets while the man in form with the ball Janishka Premasinghe ended with figures of 2/41.
