After a lapse 30 years the friendly match battle between St. Johns College, Jaffna and S. Thomas College, Mount Lavinia was re- initiated in Jaffna today.

The 1st X1 Thomian cricket team, going into the match with a very young side, managed to score 271 runs for the loss of 7 wickets before handing over the pitch to the home side to attack the ball. Right hand middle order batsmen, Thilaksha Sumanaweera top scored for the Thomians with 60 runs. Rishen Mathangaweera chipped in with a half century.

In reply the Jaffna boys were 83 runs for 9 wickets at stumps. Fresher and shining star for the Thomians today was young Dilum Fernando who bagged 5 wickets while left arm orthodox bowler, Rishen Mathangaweera managed to get hold of 3 wickets.
