Gunaratne ruled out of Bangladesh T20Is

All-rounder Asela Gunaratne has been ruled out of the 15-member Sri Lanka squad for the two-match T20I series against Bangladesh which commences today (15th February) in Dhaka.

Gunaratne sustained an injury in his right arm, while diving during one of the fielding drills yesterday and getting his arm caught in an awkward position.

He is out of the both matches and will return to Colombo this afternoon to attend for a MRI scan and start the rehabilitation process. Sri Lanka Cricket named no replacement.

After clinching their second successive series win on tour, first in the tri-series and then in the Tests, Sri Lanka will look to translate the same form into the T20Is under Dinesh Chandimal’s leadership.

Earlier, top order batsman Kusal Janith Perera was also ruled out of the T20I series with Kusal Mendis being named as replacement.
