Isipathana College Colombo has appointed Manilka Sulakshana Rubeyru as their Captain in the first XV Rugby team for the season of 2020.

Whilst Rubeyru will play his fifth and final year, Ramitha Himash ends his schools rugby career after 3 years of first XV rugby as the vice-captain. Manilka became Isipathana’s youngest ever Captain at the age of 17 when he was given the responsibility of leading the team in 2018. They had a decent run that year ending up in 5th place with a fairly inexperienced team.

But last year was disappointing for the Green Machine as they finished in 6th position although they were eyeing for the big prize. This time around, they will undoubtedly look to get back to winning ways with Ronnie Ibrahim and Rizah Mubarak as the pillars in the coaching department.

Standing tall at the Centre position Rubeyru, had a decent year in 2019, especially after donning the Junior Tusker jersey as he made it to China for the Division 1 U19 Asia Rugby Championship. He had an excellent season in the 2018 as the Skipper putting together a string of solid performances.

Isipathana College has a lot to prove and uphold, but can they? Is the big question?
