England to tour Sri Lanka in 2020

The schedule for England Men’s two-Test tour of Sri Lanka in March 2020 has been announced. The two Test matches will form part of the ICC World Test Championship, and as such will each be worth 60 points.

The first Test will be played at the Galle International Stadium, the second in Colombo at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium.

Prior to the Test Series there will be two warm-up fixtures, a three-day full squad participation warm-up match and a four-day First-Class match. Both matches will be against the SLC Board President’s XI.

Joe Root’s side last toured Sri Lanka and registered a 3-0 whitewash against the hosts and currently sit fifth in the ICC World Test Championship table, on 56 points, after drawing the Ashes series 2-2 this summer.

  • Saturday 7 March-Monday 9 March: Three-day warm-up v SLC Board President’s XI – Katunayake, CMCG
  • Thursday 12 March-Sunday 15 March: Four-day First-Class warm-up match v SLC Board President’s XI – Colombo, P Sara Oval
  • Thursday 19 March-Monday 23 March: 1st Test v Sri Lanka – Galle, Galle International Stadium
  • Friday 27 March-Tuesday 31 March: 2nd Test v Sri Lanka – Colombo, R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium
