With the conclusion of the Singer Schools Rugby League, the all-important Milo President’s Knockout will kick off in the 16th of June 2018 with the Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Association (SLSRFA) finalizing the final draft of the eight teams competing in the top tournament.

The Milo President’s trophy format involves the top 6 teams in the ‘Cup’ championship along with the top 2 teams in the ‘Plate’ segment to compete in a single elimination tournament. However, the newly crowned league champions Royal College and the Plate champions S. Thomas’ College have written to the governing body to withdraw from the tournament.

With Royal & S. Thomas’ opting not to play in the tournament, the Milo President’s trophy will include Wesley College and the newly promoted Maliyadeva College Kurunegala who finished 3rd in the Plate championship.

This means that St. Joseph’s, St. Peter’s, Isipathana, Kingswood, Trinity & Wesley will play the tournament from the cup championship while St. Anthony’s and Maliyadeva will be the representation from the lower tier.

Last year’s Premier trophy winners Maliyadeva College will also be getting a ticket to the President’s trophy after the team emerged winners in the final week of the Singer Schools Rugby League to qualify for promotion.

The tournament that will kick off on the 16th of June at the Sugathadasa Stadium will see a conclusion on the 30th of June with the finals that is set to be played at the Racecourse grounds.

In line with the President’s trophy, the Premier and Chairman trophy will happen for the division ‘C’ teams and for the teams of the Division II segment.
