The returning Bodrie Dimitri scored a second half hat-trick as he inspired Colombo FC to a 7-1 win against minnows Jet Liners SC in the pre-quarter finals of the FA Cup, at Kew Points Road.

The first half was all about missed chances for the reigning champions Colombo FC. Zarwan Johar and skipper Raumi Mohideen created many chances for their team but they were unable to find the back of the net until the 34th minute.

Zarwan provided with the cross, which was shot on target by Dhanushka Madushanka but the goalkeeper pulled off a diving save only to deflect it straight to Momas Yapo who fired the ball back into the net.

The resilience shown by the Jet Liners was admirable but it wasn’t enough to stop the defending champions.

The second half was a goal fest for the star studded Colombo side.

Three minutes into the second half substitute Bodrie Dimitri found his first goal; Momas Yapo crossed the ball and it was an easy chip for Dimitri.

Few moments later Madushanka directed his header to the top corner to put his team 3-0 up in the 52nd minute.

Dimitri completed his hat-trick with two consecutive goals inside three minutes. Both goals were pretty easy for a player of his caliber and he was helped by some poor defending and goalkeeping.

A. C. Frank came on in the 65th minute and took only 5 minutes to get his name on the score card. It looked too easy for the defending champions towards the latter part of the match as they were able to maintain possession right throughout the second half.

The only consolation goal for the Jet Liners came in the 72nd minute after Colombo FC defender Vikum Kumarasiri pushed Geeth Kavinda inside the box which resulted in a penalty.

Tunde Ayodej took the penalty and it was punched away by the keeper only to have it deflect right back to Tunde who made it sure he found the back of the net with his second shot.

Geeth Kavinda got his second yellow and got sent-off inside the last ten minutes which put his team in deep trouble.

The hosts used this one man advantage and scored one more goal before the final whistle. Zarwan Johar finally was able to find the target in the 85th minute for Colombo FC’s 7th goal. Zarwan played a vital role in the mid field right through and deserved to have his name on the score card.

However, it was a convincing win for the defending champions and they will face the boys from Mannar, Hillary SC in the top 8.
