Three teams look set to be in contention for the Dialog Champions League 2016, with Colombo FC, Renown and Blue Star sitting pretty at the top of the table.

Everyone below them though will be looking to spoil their party and there are no easy games in Game-week 5. ThePapare.com takes a look at the fixtures in detail.

Renown SC vs Air Force SC (11th February at 3:20pm at Kelaniya Football Complex)

Renown generally need a game-week or two to hit top gear after a break in the competition but they will need to adapt quickly to Air Force’s combative counter-attacking style of play if they are to keep their title dreams alive in a tricky game-week 5 fixture.

Air Force are effectively out of the running for the trophy but they will be keen on adding more points to their dismal tally. Expect Renown to go in as favourites but Air Force definitely have at least a goal in them.

Solid SC vs Blue Star SC (12th February at 3:20pm at Kelaniya Football Complex)

Blue Star scrapped hard to register a narrow 1-0 win over New Youngs last game-week, though they probably should have scored more in that game and their inability to convert possession into chances and chances into goals is a concern for the team from Kalutara.

Solid on the other hand have been dealt some critical injuries that have effectively ended their chances of a championship. The absence of Thakshila Danoj and Gnanaruban were felt significantly as they were rolled over with ease by Renown. They will be hoping to end the season on a high and this is a game they may fancy their chances in.

Army SC vs New Youngs SC (13th February at 3:20pm at Kelaniya Football Complex)

Army look unlikely to challenge for the title this year after calamitous error against Renown and a narrow loss to Colombo FC has left them 6 points adrift of the league leaders. They are still a very good team though, and will be firm favourites to beat New Youngs when they face each other this week.

New Youngs have proved themselves difficult to break down defensively, but at the other end of the pitch they have struggled to score goals and put games to bed. Expect them to defend well, but it is likely that Army will be too good for them.

Colombo FC vs Navy SC (14th February at 3:20pm at Kelaniya Football Complex)

Colombo FC will be looking to keep their DCL momentum going after their return to Sri Lanka following the away leg of the AFC Cup qualifier against Mohun Bagan. They are advantaged by the fact that they play last and will have some time to recover from their continental adventure.

Another factor going for them is that they play Navy, who have been going through a rough patch themselves.

Navy picked up their first win of the Super 8s last week against Air Force, but will be wary of the threat that Colombo FC posses with the pace of Nagoor Meera and Afis Olayemi. Colombo FC will be favourites to pick up the win and keep a hold on the top spot for at least another week.
