Devapathiraja College Rathgama ‘A’ team advanced to the pre quarter finals for first time of their school cricket history in division I. They are also the unbeaten team in the ‘Singer Trophy’ Under 13 division 1 inter schools cricket tournament matches so far.
Devapathiraja College Rathgama played won 9 matches and they won 7 matches against St. Thomas College Matara, Debarawewa National School, Gamini National School Bentota and Dharmasoka College Ambalangoda in the first round and St. Sebastian’s College Moratuwa and Christ King College Ja Ela in second round. Kavindu Nirmana of Devapathiraja College Rathgama, has shown all-round performances in this series. He scored more than 500 runs with a century and 4 half centuries. He scored a century against St. Servatius College Matara and he scored half centuries against St. Sebastian’s Moratuwa, Dharmasoka Ambalangoda, Richmond Galle and St. Thomas Matara. He has taken more than 15 wickets so far.
Jeewaka Shasheen of Devapathiraja made 3 half centuries against Debarawewa NS, Gamini MMV Bentota and Christ King College Ja Ela and his scalps tally is more than 20 wickets. Hareen Achintha scored a century against St. Thomas College Matara. Irushka Thimira the left arm leg spinner took more than 10 wickets including a hat-trick whilst Shehan Hasaranga bagged 10 wickets.
