The final round of the group stage matches in the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) Major League Tournament continued around the island today(20). 

Army vs BRC

The ever consistent Rumesh Buddhika’s century put BRC well in control of their match against Army SC today.

Lisula Lakshan and Lasith Lakshan also hit half centuries as BRC replied with 345 after Army SC posted 232 all-out on the opening day.

SSC vs Moors 

SSC secured crucial first innings points after bowling out Moors SC for 160, before Sri Lanka Test batsmen Dimuth Karunaratne and Kaushal Silva both hit centuries in their second innings.

The duo added 274 for the first wicket as SSC ended the day on 357/3 with an overall lead of 396 runs. The stars with the ball for SSC were Sachithra Senanayake and Jeffrey Vandersay who shared seven wickets between them.

Saracens vs CCC

The energetic left hander Kavin Bandara fell short of a century by 8 runs as CCC made a stubborn reply of 140/3 after Saracens made 496 all-out.

The star with the bat for Saracens was their skipper Harsha Cooray who made a magnificent 140. Sachith Pathirana captured four scalps for CCC.

Ragama vs Bloomfield 

Lahiru Samarakoon and Dhanosh De Silva hit half centuries but it went in vain as Ragama CC secured crucial first innings points against Bloomfield. Nishan Pieris captured four wickets for Ragama while Amila Aponso and Ishan Jayaratne captured three apiece.

Ragama CC, batting a second time lost three quick wicket but more importantly their man-in-form Lahiru Milantha remained unbeaten on 23* when stumps were drawn on day two.

Skipper Angelo Perera’s 89 made sure NCC gained a vital 119 run first innings lead after they bowled out Badureliya for 194 on the opening day.

Malinga Amarasinghe chipped in with 45 for NCC as they made 313 all out, while Alankara Asanka and Nimanda Subasinghe picked up three wickets each.

Chilaw Marians vs SLPACC

Ashen Silva returned to form with an unbeaten 168* for Chilaw Marians while Sachithra Serasinghe also hit a century to help Chilaw to 427 all-out in their first innings.

No one expected the game to end on day two but a stunning spell of fast bowling from Asitha Fernando demolished Ports Authority for 135 in their first innings, with Fernando picking up five wickets to set up the game.

Batting a second time around Ports didn’t fair any better as they were shot out for 108 to lose by an innings and 184 runs. It was the left arm and right arm spin combination of Malinda Pushpakumara and Shehan Jayasuriya who did the bulk of the damage in the second innings, as the duo shared seven wickets between them.
