At the end of the India v Windies one-day international series, Yuzvendra Chahal and Ravindra Jadeja moved up in the bowlers’ rankings, while Shai Hope and Shimron Hetmyer did likewise among the batsmen.

Jadeja jumped 16 places to sit at No.25 among bowlers in the MRF Tyres ICC Men’s ODI Player Rankings. The all-rounder, whose white-ball career received a lifeline in the Asia Cup 2018 earlier this year, made a big statement with seven wickets in four games against the Windies as India won 3-1.

Hetmyer moved up by 31 spots to No.26 after his good show against India

Chahal, meanwhile, moved up by three places to enter the top 10 for the first time at joint No.8 with England’s Adil Rashid, who shone against Sri Lanka. Jasprit Bumrah, who was drafted back into the playing XI for the last three ODIs against the Windies, retained his top spot with 841 points – his career-best.

Sri Lanka’s Akila Dananjaya was also amongst the significant gainers amongst the bowlers, climbing eight places to the 13th spot with 651 points. He claimed nine scalps in five matches in the ODI series against England even as Sri Lanka lost.

Moving to the batsmen, an average series against the Windies saw Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan slip down by four spots to No.9. The left-hander, with a highest score of 38 in the series, struggled to get going against the visitors.

The Indian captain and his deputy, though, were in great form and retained their one-two on the table. Virat Kohli, who scaled the 10,000-run milestone during the series, slammed three tons in the first three games to remain No.1 with 899 points. Sharma, who is at No.2 with a career-high 871 points, is not too far behind his skipper.

Despite scoring just one half-century in five innings against Sri Lanka, England’s red-ball skipper Joe Root retained his standing at No.3 with 807 points. Babar Azam, Ross Taylor, Kane Williamson and Quinton de Kock rose by one place each to settle at No.5, 6, 7 and 8 respectively.

The big news in the batsmen’s table was that of Windies batsmen Shai Hope and Shimron Hetmyer catapulting to No. 25 (up 22 spots) and No.26 (up 31 spots) respectively. Hope scored 250 runs, while Hetmyer hit 250 to give the Windies a bit of hope of winning the series.

For India, Ambati Rayudu, who showed promise at two-down in the batting order, moved up by 24 places to No.48 with a career-best 553 points.
