Rodrigo, who plays for Cashwagon’s sponsored indoor cricket team, is no stranger to the national spotlight. Rodrigo became a nationally recognised player after a successful college career for St. Josephs, which started with a bang as Rodrigo broke a 44-year old college record by recording 8 wickets in an innings on debut.

His achievements didn’t stop there as he went on to claim the highest honour at St. Josephs for his exceptional 2015/16 season that included 550 runs and 75 wickets.

This success led to his first call-up to the National team in 2017 for the Asia Cup. In 2018 he represented Sri Lanka in the Austral-Asia Cup and during England’s tour of the country. Rodrigo’s talents were rewarded with most valuable player awards during both events.

“We could not be prouder of Malshan,” says Samila Fernando, CEO Cashwagon Sri Lanka. “Every day he represents Cashwagon’s values and our mission to help normal Sri Lankans gain quick access to small loans, and now he is to represent the country and the people of Sri Lanka on the sporting field in Singapore.”

“We are delighted to sponsor Malshan Rodrigo and wish him and the team all the best in Singapore,” Samila adds with enthusiasm. “Good luck, boys – bring home the trophy!”
