The desperate attempt by Sri Lanka Badminton Association (SLBA) to release the ban which was imposed by the Badminton World Federation (BWF) has been rejected.
In reply to the letter sent by SLBA on 08 October to get the ban imposed on them lifted, the world body stated that only if consideration is given to two points the ban could be lifted.
The two points stated are: that another special meeting is conducted and constitutional revisions made with consent of the majority; and elections should be conducted thereafter.
When Ceylon Today queried from Amal Dias, Secretary of SLBA, he stated that SLBA has decided to heed the advice of the world body and will carry out the necessary changes according to their needs.
Also, SLBA President stated that he hopes to speak with authorities of the Asian Badminton Association at the council meeting which will be held today in Malaysia, and get their support.
In their letter to World Body, SLBA maintained that during the special general meeting conducted on 25 November 2014, certain amendments to the Constitution had been made with the consent of the majority.
