40th Annual Sri Lanka schools all island age group Aquatic championships 2013 will be held from 18th to 21st June 2013 at Sugathadasa Stadium swimming pool Colombo. Sri Lanka School’s Aquatic Sports Association media stated.
The annual event which is sponsored by Milo a product of Nestle plc, will be organized by Sri Lanka School’s Aquatic Sports Association in relation with the Sri Labka Aquatic Association. “We are to conduct our annual mega event in 6 age groups; under 9, under 11, under 13, under 15, under 17 and under 19. However we do not plan to do it in a deep level as to the restrictions of the ministry of education. But we will use a special squad for this as we have to represent in the international events” Mr. Y. A. N. D..Yapa, president S.L.S.A.S.A stated.
The aquatic event which is to be started on 18th June 2013 will be a significant event in the history of aquatic events in Sri Lanka as schools representing Northern and Eastern provinces will be participating to the champianship. Accordingly five schools representing Eastern province and one school representing Northern province will participate to the significant event.
Out of the 1780 competitors who participate, 1612 competitors will be boys while the remainder is girls. The association has planned to deliver a total number of 18 champion trophies including individual, relay and school.
The opening ceremony will be held on 18th June 2013 at 8.00am and the chief guest will be Mr. A. B. Aberathna the director of Sports, the Ministry of Sports while Mr. Bandula Gunawardane Hon. Minister of Education will be graced to the closing ceremony on 21st June 2013 at 8.00am.
The press briefing was concluded at the CR &FC club in the presence of Mr. Bandula Egodage Assistant Vice President Nestle plc, Mr. Norman kannangara assistant vice president Nestle plc, Mr.R. M. Krishan, secretary SLSASA and Mr. Y.A.N.D. Yapa.
