Sonam Lhamo opened the scoring in the 9th minute through a shot from just outside the box which found goalkeeper, Jeganathan Jethunsika off her line.

Sri Lanka held off Bhutan for around half an hour during which time the hosts dominated play creating a few chances while the visitors struggled to get out of their own half.

Lhamo added the second as she got on the end of a cut-back from the left, turned the defender and shot fiercely, which along with poor goalkeeping went into the goal.

Just before half time Sri Lanka had their only chance. A free-kick into the box was spilled by the Bhutan goalkeeper but the islanders could only get a tame shot off the rebound straight at the shot-stopper.
